WHEN WAS THE VINEYARD ESTABLISHED?
The Vineyard was established in 1992.

WHO WAS IT SET UP BY?
It was set up by an Iraqi Ex-engineer and his wife. Mohammad and Irene Hoyfayz.

WHAT VARIETIES DO YOU GROW?
We have Seigerrebe, Madelaine Angevine and Reichensteiner and Seyval Blanc these produce white wine and they are mostly German crosses. The reds are Triomphe D’Alscae, Regent and Rondo.

CAN YOU REALLY MAKE WINE IN THIS COUNTRY?
Yes! Sugar Loaf Vineyards is positioned on the South-facing slopes of the Sugar Loaf Mountain (hence the name) it’s well sheltered with tall wind breaks positioned around the Vineyard and the right combination of special selected vines (Cabernet Sauvignon wouldn’t do very well here) and well balanced soils add a special character to our wines.

HOW MUCH WINE DO YOU PRODUCE?
About 12,000 bottles a year.

WHAT WINES DO YOU PRODUCE?
We have 4 still white wines ranging from dry to medium. One red and a sparkling wine.

WHERE DO YOU SELL YOU WINES?
Mainly from the Vineyard but we also sell at Abergavenny and Brecon Farmers market, agricultural shows, food festivals, local shops and off-licences and some hotels.

WHO MAKES THE WINE?
Our vinification is carried out by Three Choirs Vineyard in Newent, Gloucester.

CAN YOU VISIT THE VINEYARD?
Yes, come and see it for yourself. We are set in the beautiful tranquil Brecon Beacons National Park, nestling at the foothills of the Sugar Loaf Mountain. Our opening hours are:

Easter - October 31st

Monday - Saturday 10.30 - 5pm Sunday 12 - 5pm

November - December 24th

12 - 4pm Closed Monday
